from our Museum Collection ...
The rooms of the Cottage Museum include the parlour with the fireplace in front of which RLS and Sam McClure hatched Stevenson's adventures to the South Pacific. Burn marks from Stevenson's cigarettes can still be seen on the mantle!
Below a photograph from the unique collection of woodcuts made by Stevenson while staying in Davos, Switzerland;
and skates RLS used during forays to nearby Moody Pond,
a life bust of Robert Louis Stevenson created when he was alive,
the penny whistle used by RLS, the "Penny Piper",
and Stevenson's writing desk filled with editions of his works;
...and for the rest, we invite you to brave the journey!
